Minutes - 2nd November, 2004
November 2nd the regulary scheduled meeting of the
SVARC was held at the clubhouse. There were 15 members and 1 guest,
KC0NNH, present.
WB3HML gave treasurer's report.
W3JJL reported on the 82 repeater that a mix-up
in hardline prices and the UHF antenna ran the bill much higher
than expected, but once the problems got straightened out the
bill was reduced. WN3V donated parts for the exciter. Tom Spangler
K3BEP gave us a discount on all the tower parts purchased, and
he is still owed for this.
W3JJL proposed that JOHN WN3V be in charge of repeater
maintenance, a motion in support was made by WB3HML/2nd K3MD,
motion passed.
Report on the 18 repeater that it was working ok
and everyone likes the new voice ID.
Report on the 27 repeater everything working ok.
WB3HML conducted the 50/50 drawing with a total
take of $15.00, the drawing was won by Chris NG3Fwho donated his
winnings back to the club.

Since none of the positions are contested, the
slate will be voted on by voice vote of those attending the December
meeting.
K3SI reported sending the clubs donation for the
BPL defense fund to the ARRL, marked for the Spectrum Defense
Fund. As reported in the November issue of QST there are more
challenges to our frequencies than just BPL, so the ARRL has rolled
these efforts into one.
Dennis KA3BVJ, gave a report and demonstration
of his ECHOLink system he has operating on 146.94 simplex. He
used a WB2IEM interface and the ECHOlink software that is available
on the internet. ECHOlink is a radio-to- internet operation on
both ends. Dennis connected with a computer in Australia and made
a call on a 2 meter repeater there and had a chat with a fellow
he had a schedule with while he was having his lunch break downunder.

to the internet.
VE-- The VE team needs a new coordinator for the
coming year. Chris NG3F, is retiring from this positon after doing
a fine job for several years. He will help train a replacement
in this postion. Come on volunteers.
Some discussion was held concerning license classes
for the coming year but no frim plans made.
K3MD, John reported he has been writing several
articles for the ARRL concerning contest operating and requested
several club members review them and offer opinions.
NG3F reported on the EMCOMM activity that was held
at the Careerlink building . They had over 80 people attending
and 5 emergency vehicles on display. Super job Chris on organizing
this activity.
Doug , WA3NLA, reported on working a station aeronauticle
mobile, The unusual thing about this was the station was on board
a WW2 vintage B-17 bomber on the way to an air show. There are
very few of these planes still flying.
