Minutes - 7th October, 2003
The regularly scheduled meeting of the SVARC was
held at the clubhouse on October 7th with 19 members present
Marv N3JIW gave a demonstration of fast scan amateur
TV.
A new video for new hams was shown on the clubs
TV/VCR system.
The 27 repeater is on but is using standby equipment.
The 18 repeater seems to be running better with the cooler temperatures
but after about 20 minutes use starts to have the old noise problems.
The 82 repeater has been returned to the factory for repairs.
THE CHRISTMAS PARTY WILL BE HELD DEC 13 th AT THE
FOUR SEASONS RESTAURANT ON the Golden strip. Order will be from
the menu and tipping at your own discretion.
N3CVQ gave the second reading of the change to
the club constitution regarding adding absentee balloting procedures.
The Tempo radio has been turned over to John WN3V
for evaluation of it's reparability. A motion was passed to provide
WA3NLA with $100 to cover the cost of these repairs if John considers
it worth the effort.
Jeff KB3GDJ in McClure has a Yeasu 747 radio for
sale to the club at a good price. A motion passed to go ahead
and by this radio for club use.
Motion passed on Members who haven't paid their
dues by the March meeting date will be moved to the inactive roster
and lose voting privileges.
A future antenna building session for members having
trouble accessing the repeaters will include several inexpensive
and easy to build designs that should suit anyone.
WB3HML urges everyone to write to their congressman
about the plan to use powerlines for high speed Internet connections
(BPL). More information on this is available on the ARRL Website
and recent editions of QST.
NG3F made a motion for the treasurer to get a Debit
card on the clubs checking account to make it easier for the club
to make purchases by phone or Internet as many places hold up
orders for the check to clear the banking system when purchases
are made that way.
