Minutes - 2nd September, 2003
The regularly scheduled meeting of the SVARC was
held Sept. 2nd at the clubhouse, we had 20 members and 2 guests
present.
The August minutes were read and changed to add
W3JJL to the equipment committee.
The treasurer's report was read and accepted.
NR3U reported the additional filters and adjustments
had been made on the 18 repeater to help overcome some of the
noise on the input. The new 82 machine will probably be installed
on the 8th. The 27 machine up and working.
N3CVQ read the change to the constitution regarding
absentee ballots. He also read the change to the by-laws changing
the meeting time to 7:30 intead of 7:00 PM.
NG3F reported that the training videos from ARRL
are not currently available, they are being upgraded to reflect
the change in licensing. A good training session was held on packet
with instruction by Chris KD3OA and Clem NR3U.
Equipment Comm. reported Donna N3XJY has a source
for stacking t! ype chairs to add to the club.
Activities Comm. Tiffany KB3ICK reported that Hoss's
does not take reservations for the weekend in regards to our Christmas
get together. Some members suggested she try the Hotel Edison
in Sunbury.
WB3HML urges members to write to their congressman
concerning the Frequency Protection Act now being considered in
congress. Sample letters are available on the ARRL website.
Bob reported the 50-50 drawing was to split $12,
it was won by Marv N3JIW who donated his winnings back to the
club.
John K3MD reported he has a portable tower and
a beam the club can use for field day or other need. He will be
moving into his new home sometime soon and has a permanent tower
planned.
WB3HML made a motion to have John WN3V take a look
at the Tempo One and give us an estimate on cost of repair, it
still had an intermittant in the drive circuit.
NG3F discussed changing the dues structure to allow
a family membership at $30.
Gordon AB3AX reported he has the new club website
up and running at http://www.svarc.net/ . A motion passed to thank
Gary N3VSN for his many years of service as webmaster of our old
site which he could now close.
W3JJL will be operating the ARRL VHF contest the
weekend of the 13 & 14 from the clubhouse. All are welcome to
stop in and help. Find out more about VHF and UHF operatons not
