RETURN
TO INDEX OF MEETINGS
Minutes - 10th February, 2004
On Tuesday February 10th the monthly
meeting of the SVARC was held at the clubhouse, having been postponed
a week due to bad weather. There were 12 members present.
K3ARR reported that the 27 repeater
was working but had occasional noise problems due to feedline
or antenna problems, repairs will have to wait for nice weather
to arrive.
WB3HML ran the 50-50 drawing that
took in $11.00. Lynn, KB3KAW who donated her winnings back to
the club, won the drawing.
Donna, N3XJY reported that the Sweetheart
Dinner would be a covered dish affair this year held at the home
of Tom, N3LEP on Saturday the 14th of February. A list of suggested
dishes to bring was passed around for signup.
K3ARR said this year's FoxHunt would
be a realistic so everyone can participate and learn without requiring
elaborate equipment.
NG3F reported that the CPR course
was given and only cost $1.00 per person for the book.
W3JJL read a letter he received
from Bob WB3DYE volunteering to do a voice ID for our repeaters.
Bob is a broadcasting professional at WNEP-TV in Wilkes Barre,
he also suggested his wife who is also in broadcasting could make
some recordings for us. The club decided not to take up the offer
for now and stick with our homegrown "talent".
W3JJL read a letter from the Susquehannock
Road Ralleye that is held the first weekend in June in Tioga County.
They are in need of more volunteer help in communications this
year. See John if you are interested. This was always a favorite
event for John Mailleue N3VTE.
W3JJL read a letter from a group
trying to revitalize the Blue Knob repeater on 147.15 (167.9pl)
and they are looking to link-up with other repeaters. No interest
was voiced by club members at this time.
NG3F reported the antenna building
project was held and about half a dozen antennas were started
but only one got finished during the class but it was a good learning
project and those unfinished antennas would be completed at home.
Discussion but no action taken:
the need to do something about the termite damage to the window
sills of the clubhouse did we want to put the club callsign on
one of the repeaters? Should we send out flyers in September about
the upcoming election of officers?
DUES: due for 2004 by the
March meeting or you will be moved to the inactive list.
